STUDIO POLICIES

Disclaimer

These policies constitute an agreement between you, the customer, and Zamek Music. Please read these policies carefully. When choosing to register for lessons with Zamek Music, you will be required to acknowledge that you understand, agree, and are bound by these terms.

 

Modification of Terms

At our discretion, Zamek Music may edit, add, or remove parts of this agreement. If we do make changes to these Studio Policies, you will be provided with reasonable advance notice.

 

Purpose

The purpose of these policies is to ensure that all students have a clear understanding of what is expected of them and of what they can expect from Zamek Music. This provides a better learning environment for the student and allows us to provide a high-quality musical education for all. A complete studio policy document will be given at the time of the student's first lesson which both the parent and student will be asked to sign and return to us. 

Scheduling

Lessons are offered weekly. Lessons for all Mizzentop students and elementary students at the home studio are 30 minutes. For students in grades 6 and up, lessons are either 45 minutes or one hour. If a current student needs extra lesson due to upcoming audition or performance, a la carte lessons can be purchased and scheduled.

 

Fees

Lessons are $70 for one hour, $50 for 45 minutes, and $35 for 30 minutes.

 

Payment

Each session will include a predetermined number of lessons plus an additional week for a makeup. Lesson fees are based on the total number of lessons per session. If you attend all lessons, you may attend the makeup week as a free “bonus” lesson. Tuition includes your face to face lesson as well as the teacher’s preparation time outside of the lesson. Lesson fees do not include the cost of music, accompanist fees or other fees associated with lessons. If you are concerned that you may be charged for services not rendered, please be assured that your tuition is always working for you. We spend a great deal of time outside of lessons planning, choosing repertoire, answering correspondence and researching the best tools for each student. We kindly remind all students and families that—between recital rehearsals, recitals, master classes, and studio events—students receive more professional time than is actually paid for.

All payments are to be made online through PayPal or by check made out to "Zamek Music." Cash will not be accepted. All fees for each session are payable in full at the time of registration. We do not accept weekly payments. Payment is due by the first lesson of each session. A fee of $20 will be charged for any payment made more than 7 days after the session begins. 

 

Students who begin lessons after the start of a session will pay a prorated tuition fee.

Attendance/Missed Lessons 

Once you have paid your tuition and schedule your lesson time, that time is held just for you. You have contracted the exclusive use of that specific time. Should you decide not to use that time, you forfeit the lesson. Regular attendance at scheduled lessons and regular practice is essential to ensure continual progress. Canceled or missed lessons are neither refunded nor credited. Should it be necessary to miss a lesson for any reason please notify the studio in advance.  If contacting us with less than 24 hours before your scheduled lesson please send a text message to 631-352-7191.

Important! Lessons canceled or missed for extended vacations, extracurricular activities such as sports, after school functions, parties, doctor appointments, etc. will be made up during the final week of each session. Regardless of the reason, only one makeup will be given during each session.

 

Teacher Cancellation 

If we need to cancel due to emergency or illness, a makeup lesson will be given at a time that is amenable to both teacher and student. 

 

Snow Days

In the case of inclement weather, we encourage you to use your own judgment about road conditions. We will notify you in case of closure. We expect that a reasonable attempt will be made to attend the lessons. Online (Skype) lessons may be offered for weather issues.

 

Holidays

Lessons will not be given on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. 

 

Late Arrivals

We are unable to extend lesson time to make up for late arrivals. No credit is given for missed lesson time. 

​Commitment and Practice 

It is expected that the students approach their music lessons with enthusiasm, curiosity and a positive attitude! Students are expected to practice outside of their lesson. We will work together with student and parent to set a practice schedule. It is only with consistent practice that results will be made.

 

Communication Between Lessons 

We are always available to answer questions. We encourage you to contact us with any questions that you may have during the week. The preferred method is email. However, if you prefer to speak on the phone, you are welcome to call. Two progress reports will be sent during each session. One in the middle of the session and one at the end. We encourage parents to be as involved as they can/would like to be. This will only help your child as they begin their musical journey.

 

Music and Accessories

Students are responsible for providing and bringing their own music, reeds, oil, water bottle, music “notebook," audio recorder and/or other items as necessary. If we have the music you are working on, we will happily send you a PDF. If we are unable to secure a copy we will send you a link to purchase it for yourself. 

 

Termination of Lessons

Because lessons are paid in advance, students are expected to complete the session. If a student should decide to discontinue lessons at any time before the end of the session a refund will not be given. 

Home Studio Students

1. Welcome to our home! We have carpet and ask that you remove your shoes.

2. You may use the downstairs hall bathroom at any time.

3. You are welcome to bring water to your lesson but if you forget, please let us know!

4. Parents are welcome to accompany their children to the lesson. If you do not want to sit in the room during the lesson, you are welcome to sit in the family room.

5. We do have a furry friend. Our dog, Taco, is a Cairn Terrier. He is hypoallergenic. He is friendly and is kept out of the music room during your lesson.

6. Please do not arrive more than five minutes early. If we are still finishing with another student, please sit in the family room. 

Voice Students Only

Two recitals are offered each year. We encourage all students to participate and attend. It is a wonderful opportunity for growth and performance practice. It is also a chance for students to show support towards their peers. Additionally, masterclasses may be held periodically held for the benefit of the entire studio. 

If you are sick, please consider the following options: use the final week for your makeup, request that your teacher make an audio recording with different warm-ups especially for you, or send a video of yourself practicing so your teacher can send back notes and comments. An online lesson may also be an option if the student is well enough to sing.
